(USA) - Expedition Team Member
Christine is a photographer, bookmaker and educator that has been documenting the world of First Nations communities for the past seven years. She graduated from the Ontario College of Art and supplemented her education at Ryerson University and Nova Scotia Collage of Art and Design. She accomplished her third year at the Ontario College of Art in Florence, Italy on a six- month independent study.
Christine has been exhibited in galleries internationally, including the Canadian Consulate in Rome, the Museum of Civilization in Ottawa and is represented by the Lonsdale Gallery in Toronto. Her work has been published in various publications, including Geist Magazine, the Banff Centre of the Arts, Health Canada and Indian and Northern Affairs of Canada. One of her most intense documentations is a photo library consisting of 120 images for the Canadian Government titled First Nations People in Everyday Life. The library consists of a full spectrum of photos varying from modern to traditional ways of life and is used in all areas of the Canadian government. She has received grants for her artistic initiatives from the Canada Arts Council, the Ontario Arts Council, Indian and Northern Affairs of Canada, the Museum of Civilization, ArtStarts, the Vancouver Foundation, ArtSmarts and the Lions Club.
Christine has been working as an Artist-In-Residence with ArtStarts since 2003, and the Vancouver School Board since 2005. She is currently the Artist-In-Residence for the 2007 Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation.
